Biology Module in the Oxford Summer School
Knowledge of biology and human anatomy are important foundational building blocks for those who want to pursue a career in medicine. The OSS Biology Module takes students away from the most familiar school-taught aspects of the subject to explore biological topics that are specifically medicine-related. Regular topics include:
-
Pharmacology: Study how drugs interact with biological systems and their role in treating diseases.
-
Epidemiology: Understand the patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in defined populations.
-
Public Health: Learn about strategies to prevent disease and promote health within communities.

The University of Oxford, founded in the 11th Century, is the English-speaking world's oldest university. It is located in the city of Oxford and is comprised of 39 colleges and 4 private halls.
Oxford is particularly renowned for its unique degrees in PPE (Philosophy, Politics, & Economics), Economics & Management, as well as its unsurpassed Classics programmes. It has educated many UK prime ministers as well as international leaders and inspiring figures such as Malala Yusafszai.
Oxford’s science is equally impressive, with the UK Covid vaccine having been produced by a team of Oxford academics working in collaboration with AstraZeneca.
Please note that while we draw inspiration from the esteemed traditions of Oxford and Cambridge, we operate independently and are not formally affiliated with Oxford University, Cambridge University, or any other university facilities.
